Self-Reliance

“I have not lived as a woman. I have lived as a man. I've just done what I damn well wanted to, and I've made enough money to support myself, and ain't afraid of being alone.”

Katharine Hepburn

Society has always made it seem like a woman belongs barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen and needs a man to bring home the money (typical stereotype), but this woman Katharine Hepburn proudly declares that she is a woman who worked hard to support herself and although most women are expected to be with a man she is perfectly content on being alone. Going against what society says she needs to be and is being who she wants. Katherine Hepburn is a great example of Self-Reliance because she relies on herself for her own happiness and no one else.

  1. I really like how you showed self-reliance through a woman's point of view and broke a stereotype. You showed that a woman can completely support herself without a man, and I 100% agree with that.

  2. I what you have said too represent self reliance, I think how you explained it is a very good way of showing self-reliance. By you saying "she doesn't need to rely on no one else but her self for happiness", I do believe that is true because none of us have to.
