Importance of Nature

“Every natural action is graceful.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nature
When you think of nature you think of trees, mountains, animals, etc, but in this quote the author Ralph W. Emerson refers to nature in human form. I love this because when you think of nature you don't normally think of human nature yet, it  has just as much importance in nature as the trees or wildlife.

Confidence

“Because of the self-confidence with which he had spoken, no one could tell whether what he said was very clever or very stupid.”

Leo Tolstoy, Война и мир

This quote is a great example of confidence, because this man (or who ever the author is talking about) spoke with high levels of confidence. Even if it was the most ridiculously insane thing anyone has ever heard of, people would think this man is magnificent and brilliant, just for showing confidence! I believe that confidence one of the greatest weapons you can have in life.

Free thought

“A truly free man is not free 'from' anything, nor free 'to' anything, he is just free. Free within himself.”
Ilyas Kassam

So much can be said about this quote by Ilyas Kassam. I personally believe this quote is saying is that there is no such thing as freedom. Sure, this country is supposedly "free", but in all reality its not we are controlled and ristrained by money, family, the government, etc. The only place you are truly free is in your own mind you're in control no one else, creating your own free thought.

Nonconfomity

Not all those who wander are lost.

 - J.R.R.

Everyone assumes that if you are wondering then you must be lost. I believe that the author is saying that not all who wonder are lost, that maybe they are actually creating their own path instead of following the paths others have mad. Their wondering is forming a path all on its own leading them wherever their soul desire, and these people are refusing to conform to a prevailing rule or practice

Self-Reliance

“I have not lived as a woman. I have lived as a man. I've just done what I damn well wanted to, and I've made enough money to support myself, and ain't afraid of being alone.”

Katharine Hepburn

Society has always made it seem like a woman belongs barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen and needs a man to bring home the money (typical stereotype), but this woman Katharine Hepburn proudly declares that she is a woman who worked hard to support herself and although most women are expected to be with a man she is perfectly content on being alone. Going against what society says she needs to be and is being who she wants. Katherine Hepburn is a great example of Self-Reliance because she relies on herself for her own happiness and no one else.
